Why don’t you come along to the World Peashooting Championship and try your hand at pea shooting? – the art of blowing dried green peas through a straw or tube at a target. With food, drinks, crafts, stalls and more, it’s a great opportunity to learn a new ‘skill’ and take part in a crazy sport that everyone can enjoy.

A New Era of Peashooting – Back to our Roots

Looking forward to the next 50 years, the World Peashooting Championship is moving into a new era to attract an even bigger audience with a few subtle changes, continuing the competition as one of Britain’s best-loved eccentric annual events! To initiate this, a brand new volunteer led Witcham Events Committee: a not-for-profit organisation run within and for the local community, has taken over the task to ensure that the Peashoot remains in its home location and respects its history to date while continuing our story. Any funds raised through future events will be reinvested into village facilities for Witcham or donated to local groups or charities assisting local residents.

In 2024 we created a new Traditional Peashooting Championship category which only basic peashooter users can enter. The aim is to level the playing field for newcomers and visitors who may not be equipped with the advanced, laser-guided peashooters seen, and still encouraged, in the Open category.
